ABOUT
Inspired by the sea and the ocean, Núria Riera’s paintings usually depict beach scenes and seascapes. She does not paint particularly spectacular scenes, but quite simple ones. She paints everyday things and objects and her works are imbued with emotion. Her paintings do not aim to scream, they have a calm and reflective approach, they are quiet and anonymous.
Núria paints what calms her and brings her peace, like floating on the ocean and feeling that water holds you, weightless. Seeing water move around the paper brings her peace. Perhaps this is the reason why she paints with watercolors, she feels very connected to water. Water forges its own path, just as Núria explores her unique way with watercolors.
Núria was born in 1988 in a town near Barcelona. She is based in Spain. She was not the kid that was always drawing but was passionate about art and visiting museums from a young age. It was not until her late twenties that she decided to change the course of her life and devote it to art.
She prefers not to explain her works and lets you discover the paintings through your own eyes. She chooses to speak with paints, not words.
Her paintings have been selected for exhibitions worldwide and won awards, most recently in London.
